Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon Henry Quartey hints at the ban on tricycles, widely known as ‘aboboyaa’ on Accra Highways, as well as some principal streets in the nation’s capital. The ban which is expected to take effect this year from November 1st is a module of his “Let’s Make Accra Work” agenda.
This exercise he says
is to eliminate tricycle operators from the Highways with a focus on the Tema Motorway. ‘Let’s make Accra work Agenda.’
In his words on Asaase FM, “So, effective November 1, tricycles cannot and will not be allowed to ride on the motorway. So, after the 90 days period, they will be restricted to their respective assemblies rather than on the principal streets… effective November 1, as for the Tema Motorway they cannot ride on it, they can continue their business in other areas,” he said on Friday.
He noted that a one-week grace period would be given after the creation of public awareness by the assemblies.
This is not the first time the minister has taken a bold initiative to materialize his “Make Accra Work” agenda
