The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor is currently addressing the press on decisions reached to clamp down on illegal mining.
On Monday, the Deputy Minister for the sector, George Mireku Duker revealed that new measures are being put in place, including the relaunch Operation Halt
Although the military task force was launched earlier this year, their routine visits to illegal mining sites declined. This, made the operators return to the sites.
As such, it is expected that Mr. Jinapor will inform the citizenry about the plans that have been put together to ensure the initiative is more sustainable.
