Christmas has come early for potential and card bearing members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), as the service provider has announced a 40-day waiver off the traditional 30-day waiting period of activation.
The condition for the 30-day waiting period is that, new registration and 3 months late renewal of NHIS card after expiry date, except in the case of pregnant women and children under 5 years, card holder cannot access healthcare instantly with the NHIS card.
This rule has however been waived from the period of 15th November, 2021 marking the 2021 NHIS Week to 25th December, 2021.
Existing NHIS card bearing members and potential members can now have their cards instantly activated after renewal or registration.
