PRESS RELEASE BY THE GHANA SCHOOL OF LAW SRC ON THE UPCOMING NATIONAL ELECTIONS
PRESS RELEASE BY THE GHANA SCHOOL OF LAW SRC ON THE
UPCOMING NATIONAL ELECTIONS

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Ghana School of Law extends its

warm greetings to all Ghanaians as the nation approaches the upcoming national elections

scheduled for Saturday. Elections in Ghana have historically served as a testament to the

nation’s growing democratic maturity and an opportunity for the citizenry to reaffirm their

commitment to peace and national cohesion. This time will be no different.

The SRC urges all eligible voters to actively participate in the electoral process by voting.

Voting is not just a civic duty but also a powerful tool to shape the future of our dear

nation. Each ballot represents a voice in determining the leadership whose actions will

impact generations to come. Let us vote with integrity and with the collective interest of

the nation at heart.

Political affiliations may vary, but our shared identity as Ghanaians binds us together.

Elections should hence serve as a unifying force rather than a source of division. We call

on all Ghanaians to maintain peace before, during and after the elections. We appeal to

political parties, candidates, and their supporters to avoid provocative language, acts of

violence, and any behavior that could incite tensions.

As aspiring legal professionals, we believe in upholding the rule of law and justice. We

urge all stakeholders to conduct themselves in ways that uphold the credibility of the

elections. We strongly condemn all forms of electoral misconduct, including vote-buying,

intimidation, and ballot tampering. Such actions undermine the integrity of our democratic

system and erode public trust

The Electoral Commission, security agencies, and other institutions must ensure

transparency, fairness, and the protection of every voter’s rights. The media must maintain

a high level of professionalism in their reportage. Let us also use social media responsibly

and refrain from circulating unverified news that could create unnecessary panic or

confusion.

Voting is not the end of our democratic responsibilities. The SRC calls on all Ghanaians

to remain active participants in governance by holding elected officials accountable. Our

collective vigilance is crucial in ensuring that leaders fulfill their promises and prioritize

the welfare of the nation. Together, let us uphold Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of

democracy in Africa and inspire future generations to value the power of their voice and

vote.

Thank you.

Daniel Otting Awuah

(SRC President)
